ARE THERE ANY PREREQUISITES TO SIGNING UP FOR CLUBS?

You must be a member of the PTA to participate in After School Clubs.  To become a member please contact hurwitzs@optonline.net.

 

HOW DO I REGISTER?

After making your club selections please fill out a registration form (located on this website).  Please submit one registration form per child and one check per family.  Please put the form and check in the box in the office labeled “After School Clubs”.  Please refer to the “Registration Procedures” page on this website for further details on how to register.

 

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLUB IS OVERSUBSCRIBED?

Clubs that are oversubscribed will be filled by lottery.  If the club maximum is 10, ten names will be drawn to fill the class.   Each name pulled after the first ten will be recorded in order.  If a space becomes available, the next name drawn (number 11) will be enrolled in the class.  Please note that children who enrolled in a club on time last semester but did not get in as a result of the lottery will have priority in registration for their first choice.  If space constraints do not allow for all priority children to be admitted to the class, priority will be given to children closed out of that club the previous semester. 

 

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY CHILDREN ARE REGISTERED FOR THEIR CLUBS?

Once the enrollment process is completed, the club roster will be posted on this website.  You will receive an email notifying you when rosters are available.  The roster will be available online only.  We will not send home hard copies.  If your child’s name is on the roster, he or she is enrolled in the club.

 

 

WHAT IF MY CHILD’S CLUB WAS CANCELLED?

Classes that do not have a minimum registration are cancelled.  We will contact you to determine if you would prefer to enroll in a different club or get your money back.

 

HOW DO I GET A REFUND IF MY CHILD DID NOT GET INTO A CLUB?

If your child was not enrolled in any clubs, your check will be destroyed.  If you attempted to register your child for more than one club and he/she did not get into all of his/her choices, any extra funds will be returned.

 

 

CAN I GET A REFUND OR CREDIT?

No refunds will be made once the registration period has ended --WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13th, 3:00PM.  Please do not sign up for extra clubs; you will be responsible for full payment for any clubs in which your child is enrolled.  Please advise Stephanie Carroll, stephsky@optonline.net  prior to the end of the registration period if your child will be withdrawing from his/her assigned club.

 

 

WHAT IF WE NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?

If you are in need of financial assistance please contact Gerry Young, Greenacres School Principal.

 

 

HOW DO MY CHILDREN GET TO THEIR CLUBS?

Classroom teachers will have a list of their students who are attending a 3:05pm club.  While they are asked to remind these students of their commitments, it is the responsibility of each child to get to the club room on his or her own.

Children who go from a 3:05pm club to a 4:10pm club are allowed to go by themselves. Please send a note to the club instructor giving your permission for them to do so for the semester.

Children enrolled in clubs that begin at 4:10pm may NOT wait at school.

 

ARE THERE OTHER ADULTS IN THE BUILDING BESIDES THE CLUB INSTRUCTORS?

ASC employs three chaperons, Vera Befi, Josephine Cammilleri and Luisa Waters.  The chaperons take attendance, aid the students and instructors during the club time and monitor club dismissals.  The chaperons have a first aid kit to handle minor injuries.  In an emergency, the chaperons will notify the parents and call 911.

WHAT ARE THE ATTENDANCE AND DISMISSAL POLICIES?

Attendance is taken to ensure that all children who were in school that day are at their assigned clubs.  If your child is at school but is NOT going to a club please call the school office 721-2740 or send a note. DO NOT CALL THE ASC COMMITTEE.

Dismissal: Please do not enter the room until the teacher dismisses the club.  Children MUST BE PICKED UP INSIDE THE SCHOOL BUILDING at the designated club room.  If you want your child to go home with someone other than you, you must send a note.

Please be aware that the crossing guard goes off duty at 3:50pm.

 

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE TO PICK UP MY CHILD?

The first time you are late you will receive an email reminding you of our pick up policy. If you are late a second time, you will be charged $75 for every 30 minutes you are late. You MUST pay before your child can continue with the club. If you are late more than 2 times in a session, your child will be removed from the club roster without refund. Please arrange a carpool if you cannot be on time.

 

 

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD TAKES MEDICATION?

The school nurse leaves at 3pm and her office is locked.  Medications left in the nurse's office are not accessible after 3pm.  Any child old enough to self-medicate must submit a "Self Medicating Release Form" signed by his/her physician and a parent and carry his/her own medication.  Children who are unable to self-medicate must have a parent or caretaker available to assist them in case of an emergency.

 

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS DISRUPTIVE DURING THE CLUB?

Children whose behavior is disruptive will receive an incident report signed by the club instructor.  If your child receives a second incident report during the semester your child will be required to withdraw from the program without refund. Egregious behavior will be forced to withdraw after a single incident report.  This policy will be enforced.

 

WHAT HAPPENS IN BAD WEATHER?

Clubs are not held when school is canceled due to inclement weather.  The District's phone system will alert you to school closing, please keep your contact information current.  It is NOT possible for the ASC committee to call each child enrolled.  No refunds will be given.
